Running a business is fast paced and can take up all your time leaving you no time to actually be present in the shop or office you run. This can lead to you not having a happy relationship with your staff if they have no connection with you and you are always in your office doing admin tasks, you need to find a way to free up your time and reconnect with your business.
If you are running your own business and you are struggling to find time to actually be a leader and get involved with your business how you want to then these few tips should give you some ideas of how you can free up your schedule, giving you more time to put into your business how you want to.
Understand what you can and cannot do
You should know everything about your business and what needs to be done to keep it running efficiently. If you know what you can do well you can keep doing those things as you know you are efficient at them and they are not going to take up too much of your time, however if there are things you can not do as well then these things can take up more time because you are not as efficient and do not know how to do these things as well this is where most of your time will be taken up, so you need to learn to do them better or hire someone that can.
Outsource where you need to
A great way to free up some of your time is to have someone else do those things, maybe they are the most time consuming or you are not as comfortable doing those things, then get them outsourced to people that can control it for you, this will free you up to focus on other things and make the business run that much smoother. For example if you do not like doing or you struggle to do your payroll then let an accountant arrange your payroll so you don’t have too. Then you can focus on things you enjoy doing and what gave you the drive to start your own business in the first place.
Create yourself a schedule
Creating a schedule and having everything you do written down is a great way to stay on top of what you need to do and make sure things are getting done. Sticking to a schedule can be tough but you will get used to it, as it allows you to tick things off and physically see the list getting smaller, it also makes it easier to delegate tasks out that employees could be helping with and have them tick it off the list so you have less to do.
If you run your business or you want to and you are unsure how you can manage your time and free it up to run the business how you want to, then these few tulips should help to give some idea of what you can do to make changes and free up your schedule more.
